Static Conference Bridge  for some users in Lync 2010

Hi

I have a requirement like below

Need to have a static Conference bridge for teams like  "Crisis Management Team- CMT)" So that same bridge will be available always. When ever there is a crisis situation ,we can broadcast an SMS to the complete user force to Join CMT Bridge" for an update. The users may be traveling,or online,or not having even Laptops.Since the "Static " Bridge details is already communicated, users will be able to join the meeting through mobile/Lync client.. etc  (External Dialin is already configured and users are able to join to meetings through mobile)

In Short,

* Need a static Conference bridge with static URL

* Static Conference ID

* Whenever someone joins the bridge, the bridge will be available (the conference will not expire )

* Only CMT or similar requirement should have static Bridges, the rest of the users should be having random Bridge  for security reasons (I mean the requirement is not to have  a global conference policy)

Expecting your thoughts

This is a little tricky because these settings are usually set at the site level not the user level.

For users who need a static conference bridge, that would be referred to in the Lync world as a dedicated meeting space or public meeting.  For those who need a random bridge, this is a private meeting.

What I would suggest, is setting all users to use private meetings, but don't enforce it.  You would do this with the new-csmeetingconfiguration command.

Get-CsMeetingConfiguration |Set-CsMeetingConfiguration -AssignedConferenceTypeByDefault $False

This will set all meetings to use a unique conference ID each time, but allow users to go back to see and offer a static bridge.  To offer a static bridge, in the Lync meeting invite options, change the meeting to "My dedicated meeting space".  The conference ID you see will be a static ID that will be used again and again and will be available as users need it.  If it gets annoying to constantly change this setting back to dedicated each time for them, they could copy and paste their meeting information into an Outlook signature called "Static Bridge" which they could add to any meeting invite or email.

Hi Paul ,

Thank you for your input.

Need to change the CsMeetingConfiguration -AssignedConferenceTypeByDefault $False and then create a meeting which will be static always.Keep the URL and meeting details for Future requirement. Then cange the -AssignedConferenceTypeByDefault to $True  so that the end user will   get random URLs.

Can you please confirm which I understood is correct or not

Almost, run the command:

Get-CsMeetingConfiguration |Set-CsMeetingConfiguration -AssignedConferenceTypeByDefault $False
They may need to exit Outlook and Lync and start them back up before this takes effect.  From there, everyone will get new conference IDs with each meeting.  However, for the users that want to see what their static meeting information will be, or to use the static bridge for a meeting, in a new meeting invite, they would go to Meeting Options and change the type to "My dedicated meeting space".  They have the option to switch between both at any time.

Hi

I  am using Lync 2010 Enterprise edition  and client as  Lync 2013 and Office 2013 .I couldnt find the mentioned option "My dedicated meeting space".

I tried at "Lync Online  Meeting" window in the Outlook -> Meeting Option.Only 3 Tabs are there "Access and Presenters","Audio and Phone"and "About".Am I missing something ?

Is this a feature/enhancement on Lync 2013 Server

Ahh, sorry.  In that case, having "Customize access and presenters" checked in the "Access and Presenters" would give you a new meeting space each time.  Unchecking it gives you the static space you're looking for.

Do you have the "Customize access and presenters box" as seen below or is it missing or uncheckable?  This is the box I was referring to in my above post 'In that case, having "Customize access and presenters" checked in the "Access and Presenters" would give you a new meeting space each time.  Unchecking it gives you the static space you're looking for.'
